Leslie J. Kohman, MD, FACS
Dr. Leslie Kohman is a Syracuse, New York-based thoracic surgeon who holds multiple positions with Upstate University Hospital (SUNY Medical University), including Medical Director of Upstate Cancer Center, Medical Director of Lung Cancer Screening Program, and Director of Thoracic Oncology Program (TOP). She is also Distinguished Service Professor of Surgery, a recognition that ranks above full professorship. Kohman specializes in the treatment of mesothelioma and lung cancer.
A pioneer among women in medicine, Kohman’s career has spanned nearly four decades. In addition to her many roles at Upstate, Kohman has volunteered her expertise to the American Cancer Society, been involved in lung cancer clinical investigations, and served as principal investigator for the New York Early Lung Cancer Action lung cancer screening program. She is one of only 140 female board-certified thoracic surgeon out of the more than 7,000 in the U.S. Kohman was named in the 1999 and 2004 editions of “The Best Doctors in America.”
