Amit N. Patel, MD
Dr. Patel is an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of Clinical Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering at the University of Utah. A specialist in the treatment of mesothelioma, his research focuses on cancer stem cell identification and destruction, as well as novel treatments of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies, including mesothelioma.
Dr. Patel received his master’s degree from Youngstown State University, and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. He completed a residency in general surgery at Baylor University, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Patel is board certified in thoracic surgery. He specializes in heart surgery, valve repair and replacement, heart failure and aortic surgery.
