Dr. Jablons is a thoracic oncologist who serves as the University of California, San Francisco’s Chief of General Thoracic Surgery and Program Leader of Thoracic Oncology, as well as Director of UCSF’s Thoracic Oncology Lab. He specializes in the treatment of mesothelioma and other cancers.

Dr. Jablons received his medical degree from Albany Medical College of Union University New York. After completing surgery residencies and fellowships, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a commander and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the Naval Hospital at Oakland at Oak Knoll. He was recruited by UCSF in 1995 to build the school’s thoracic surgery and oncology program, and was named Chief of General Thoracic Surgery in 1997.

Dr. Jablons was included on U.S. News & World Report’s list of America’s Top Doctors, and is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Association for Cancer Research and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He has authored or co-authored over 160 journal articles related to the treatment of mesothelioma and other types of cancer.
