Raja M. Flores, M.D.
A recognized leader in the treatment of mesothelioma, Dr. Flores is Chief of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System. He has established the minimally-invasive VATS lobectomy procedure as the gold standard in the surgical treatment of lung cancer, publishing two sentinel studies validating its oncological effectiveness compared to standard thoracotomy.
Dr. Flores holds an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from New York University, a medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a Masters in Biostatistics from Columbia University. He has completed residencies at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Flores has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and is a member of numerous medical and surgical societies including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
