Wickii Thambiah Vigneswaran, MD
Dr. Vigneswaran is an Associate Chief of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center, as well as Director of the hospital’s Lung and Heart-Lung Transplantation. He specializes in minimally invasive treatments, including video-assisted surgery, and in the treatment of mesothelioma.
Dr. Vigneswaran received his medical degree from the University of Sri Lanka. He has completed numerous residencies and fellowships, including at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, the University of Glasgow, the University of Edinburgh, and the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Vigneswaran has authored or co-authored more than 85 journal articles and book chapters, and holds leadership positions in several medical organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians and the International College of Surgeons. He has also been named a fellow of surgical and medical societies in four countries, including the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland, and the Royal Society of Medicine, London.
