Frank C. Detterbeck, MD, FACS, FCCP
Dr. Detterbeck serves as Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Director of Thoracic Oncology at the Yale University School of Medicine’s Smilow Cancer Hospital. With 30 years of experience as a thoracic surgeon, he specializes in the treatment of lung and esophageal cancer, chest wall tumors and mesothelioma.
Dr. Detterbeck received his medical degree from the University of Michigan, and completed fellowships in thoracic transplantation and cardiothoracic surgery at the University of North Carolina. He also completed a residency at the Virginia Mason Clinic, becoming the hospital’s chief resident in general surgery.
Dr. Detterbeck has written over 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He has been listed in Castle Connolly’s “America’s Top Doctors” and AcademicKeys’ “Who’s Who in Medicine Higher Education,” and has received numerous awards from UNC and Yale.
