Michael J. Liptay, MD
Dr. Liptay is Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center and an Associate Professor of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, specializing in minimally-invasive treatments of lung, esophageal and mediastinal tumors. He is considered a specialist in the treatment of mesothelioma.
Dr. Liptay received both his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Northwestern University, before completing a residency in surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in thoracic surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Liptay has written more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and is a member of professional organizations such as the American Association of Thoracic Surgery and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
