 Background

The James Graham Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville was established in 1981 through the philanthropy of the James Graham Brown Foundation. In 1987, the building was donated to the University of Louisville to enhance the cancer center’s presence and to coordinate care with the latest clinical and academic research innovations. In 1999, James Graham Brown Cancer Center and the University of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center formed the Kentucky Cancer Program, a cancer education and prevention program that has twelve offices throughout the state.

James Graham Brown Cancer Center receives over $50 million in research grants each year from federal and private sources, employs over 36 clinicians ranked as America’s Best Doctors by the U.S. News and World Report, and operates a 318-bed facility. Additionally, the U.S. News and World Report ranks James Graham Brown Cancer Center as high performing in cancer care.

Cancer Treatments

The James Graham Brown Cancer Center is situated to provide the latest research developments, leading to improved cancer treatment options, through its collaboration with the Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky known as the Kentucky Lung Cancer Research Program.
